Working at Twist bakery has had me learning many new things. I like being outside my comfort zone. This is how you learn and grow. As you may or may not know Twist bakery is gluten, dairy, soy and nut free. So concocting a soy sauce was imperative as its needed for so many Asian based recipes. I also love sweet soy sauce. After scouring the internet and scanning my own recipes, I came up with something that not only is similar and works as a replacement to this soy based treat, but is also yummy!!!!
This is also easy to make:
SWEET SOY SAUCE
1 cup vegetable broth
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp molasses
1 tsp sea salt
Pinch garlic powder
Pinch ground ginger
Combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
Reduce heat to medium and allow to lightly boil for 5 minutes. Allow to cool then store in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
all ingredients and cook on low till thick but not like syrup. Remove anise star, let cool.
I hope all the soy-free people out there find this recipe helpfull. I think I even like this better than regular sweet soy sauce. Its amazing drizzled on any meat, poultry or fish. Its best drizzled on grilled veggies. Cheers!!
